About me

I live in Sheffield with my husband, am a member of Labours Yorkshire and Humber Regional Board and a member of the NEC.

My working life has been spent in many places - as an academic here in Sheffield [Politics Lecturer] but more recently as Head of the England Team at Friends of the Earth, based in London. I also set up the Brexit Civil Society Alliance across all parts of the UK to mitigate against the worst aspects of the EU Withdrawal Bill.

I remain committed to the green agenda, to devolution and to closer ties with Europe.

There are always elections and fights to win. I like to roll my sleeves up and get stuck in. Its why I led the successful selection and election of Labour’s first mayor in South Yorkshire.

It's why I’m out on the doorstep day in, day out in Sheffield and across the country. We must not squander the hard won victory of 2024. This is not the time to be riven with internal battles. The next few years won’t be easy. It’s vital we focus on the main prize of a second [and third] term; winning in our devolved nations; having Labour mayors in place; and crucially – strong Labour councils up and down the country.
